Hoilman's Homer Gives Boise Walk-off Win

BOISE, Idaho - Paul Hoilman hit a walk-off home run leading off the bottom of the tenth inning, lifting the Boise Hawks to a 5-4 victory over the Yakima Bears, before a sellout crowd of 3,711 fans at Memorial Stadium.
The win for the Hawks was their fifth-straight home win and helped the team pull even with Spokane and Tri-City atop the Northwest League East Division standings.
After Yakima stranded the bases loaded in the tenth inning, Hoilman broke out of a 1-for-20 slump, launching an 0-2 slider over the wall in right for his third home run of the season, giving the Hawks their first win of the season when trailing after six innings.
The Bears jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second on a Westly Moss two-run double, then extended the margin to 4-1 in the sixth on back-to-back homers by Henry Zabala and Justin Hilt. However, the Hawks would get a Pin-Chieh Chen RBI double in the seventh, with Chen scoring on a wild pitch later in the frame to cut the margin to 4-3.
Yakima would have a chance in the eighth, with Hilt at third and one out, but he was thrown out at home to end the inning by Reggie Golden after a fly-ball out. Boise would tie it in the eighth, as Wes Darvill lined an RBI single, scoring Hoilman from second base.
Charles Thomas picked up his first professional win for the Hawks, with starter Austin Reed going five strong innings in a no-decision. Chen went 4-for-4 in the victory, with Darvill going 3-for-4 for the Hawks.
Adam Kudryk went six solid innings for the Bears, allowing just one run, striking out three. Zabala and Zach Jones each had to hits in the loss for Yakima, who had a two-game win streak snapped.
Game 2 of the series is tomorrow night, with Willengton Cruz going for the Hawks, opposite Alex Capaul at 7:15 p.m.
