'Hogs outswing Cats

Fort Worth, TX (06.24.08) - J.B. Tucker and David Espinosa combined to go 8-for-8 with four runs as the Grand Prairie AirHogs defeated the Fort Worth Cats 8-4 on Tuesday night. Trailing 4-3 in the top of the eighth inning, Grand Prairie made short work of Cats reliever Tim Haines. The team came up with five consecutive hits, including a two RBI single down the first base line for the pinch hitter Brandon Carter to take the 5-4 lead. They scored their next to runs on an Aaron Garza RBI single and a Trevino sacrifice fly. J.B. Tucker came up with a solo shot in the top of the eighth inning to cement the AirHogs lead at 8-4. He would finish off 5-for-5 with three runs and one RBI. The Fort Worth Cats used the long ball to take the 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Aaron Sisk crushed the ball over the left field fence for his first home run of the season. Grand Prairie answered the Cats in the top of the third and tied it up at 1-1. Aaron Garza reached on an infield single with one away. He would advance to third with the bases loaded, and scored the tying run on a Billy Munoz sacrifice fly to deep left field. Two errors helped the AirHogs take the 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth. J.B. Tucker led off with a bloop single into shallow left field. He advanced to second on a throwing error by the third baseman on a Mike Conroy grounder. After reaching third base, Tucker scored on a grounder to third base that Aaron Sisk charged in on but bobbled, allowing Holder to reach on the fielding error. Fort Worth jumped right back on top, 3-2, with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Nelson Teilon led off by lacing a double into shallow left field that reached the wall. He would score on a costly error for Grand Prairie. John Allen came up with a single into center field with Billy Munoz taking the cut-off on the right side of the infield. Munoz had a chance to get Allen off first base, but threw the ball past Noel Trevino who was near first, allowing Teilon to score and Allen to reach third. Charles Carter brought in the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly to center field, plating Allen. The AirHogs tied it back up at 3-3 on a costly throwing error from the left fielder Ed Montague. With David Espinosa on second, Noel Trevino reached on a single on a into right field. The ball slipped as Montague threw it into the cut-off man, sailing past second base, allowing Espinosa to come in. Scot Drucker earned the no decision in a solid outing for Grand Prairie. He went 6.2 innings and surrendered four runs, two earned, with four hits and one strikeout with two hits. Geivy Garcia (1-0) earned his first victory in 2.1 innings of scoreless relief. He gave up just one hit with four strikeouts and one walk. Joel Kirsten was the Cat's starter. He went seven innings, giving up three runs, one earned off eight hits with two strikeouts and three walks. Tim Haines (3-2) was the losing pitcher, allowing four runs on five hits.
