
Llanos, Dechristofaro Take Home League Honors

DURHAM, NC - Sioux City Explorers INF Alex Llanos and Grand Prairie AirHogs LHP Vinnie DeChristofaro were selected by PA-Sportsticker, the official statistician of the American Association, as the Teamline Direct Batter and Pitcher of the Week.
Llanos hit .481 (13-for-27) this past week for the Explorers. He clubbed three home runs, drove in eight runs and scored seven times. Llanos also stole a base, slugged .852 and had an on-base percentage of .517. Coming into last night's game, the Puerto Rican native was batting .273 on the year with four home runs, 23 RBI along with 41 hits.
The veteran infielder was selected by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 28th round of the 1995 draft. He played three seasons in the Angels farm system and two in the Tampa Bay Rays organization from 1995-1999. The rest of his career has been spent in the independent leagues.
DeChristofaro had a perfect 2-0 record in four appearances for the AirHogs. He hurled 5 2/3 innings giving up only three hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. The Grand Prairie reliever is 3-0 on the year with a miniscule ERA of 1.21. He leads the league in appearances with 23.
The resident of Richmond Hill, GA was a seventh round selection of the Philadelphia Phillies in 2001. DeChristofaro spent 2001-2004 in the Phillies organization before joining the Can-Am League's road team, the Grays in 2005. The past two seasons he was with the St. Joe Blacksnakes of the American Association.
