Everett AquaSox News Release

Spokane, WA: Hogan Windish homered twice, hit a bases-clearing double, and drove in six runs while the Everett AquaSox (14-13) bullpen pitched eight scoreless innings as the Sox overcame a four-run first-inning deficit to defeat the Vancouver Canadians (14-10), 10-4.

The Canadians grabbed what appeared to be a comfortable first-inning lead, sending ten batters to the plate. Four singles and three walks in the frame gave Vancouver the early 4-0 lead as Rainer Nunez, Gabby Martinez hit back-to-back RBI singles to get the scoring started before Alex De Jesus drove in the final two runs with another single.

Solo home runs by Tyler Locklear in the second inning and Windish in the fourth cut the Canadians lead to 4-2. Ben Ramirez walked with the bases loaded in the fifth inning, scoring Cole Barr to make it a 4-3 game. Windish then came up and cleared the bases with a three-run double off the wall in right-center field, scoring James Parker, Harry Ford, and Ramirez, giving the AquaSox their first lead of the game, 6-4. Windish scored two batters later on an RBI single off the bat of Walking Cabrera and the Sox led 7-4 after five innings.

Everett added three insurance runs in the ninth inning. Ford increased the Sox lead to 8-4 with an RBI single into centerfield that scored Erik Stock. The final two runs of the game came when Windish hit his second home run of the night and sixth of the season, a blast over the right-center field wall that also scored Ramirez.

While the AquaSox bats were overcoming the early deficit, the AquaSox bullpen was busy shutting down the Canadians hitters. Five different AquaSox relief pitchers: Kelvin Nunez, Tim Elliott, Logan Rinehart, Jared Bayless, and Michael Flynn combined to hold the Canadians scoreless over the final eight innings of the game.
