Hitmen Top Broncos at Swift Current

Swift Current, SK - The Calgary Hitmen opened a weekend home-and-home set with the Swift Current Broncos by posting a 5-2 victory on Friday night at Innovation Credit Union i-plex.

The line of Sean Tschigerl, Riley Fiddler-Schultz and Blake Stevenson led the way combining for seven points. Tschigerl notched a pair of goals and added an assist while Stevenson recorded a goal and an assist and Fiddler-Schultz chipped in a pair of helpers.

Cael Zimmerman also scored twice for the visitors on a night where all five Hitmen markers came at even strength. Karson King and Carter Stebbings lit the lamp for the home side.

Final shots were 27-27 as Brayden Peters made 25 saves to pick up the win while Reid Dyck turned aside 22 shots for Swift Current.

With the victory, the Hitmen climb within three points of the Broncos for the eighth and final Eastern Conference playoff spot.

The Hitmen will return to Scotiabank Saddledome on Sunday, April 3 to host the Broncos in a rematch. It's a 2:00 p.m. start for the Great Neighbour Game presented by Adrenalin Source for Sports. Fans are encouraged to bring a donation of diapers or formula in support of the Alberta Council of Women's Shelters. It's also another Sunday Funday in the 'Dome featuring "Farley's Family Feast" with special $2 prices for cotton candy, water, pop, hot dogs and popcorn plus select $5 menu items including pizza and hamburgers.
