Calgary Hitmen News Release
Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen will be hosting the annual TELUS BE BRAVE #EndBullying game on Wednesday, February 28 at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The Hitmen are excited to welcome back over 10,000 students and teachers to spread the message of acceptance and learn about bullying prevention. The Hitmen will welcome Edmonton Oil Kings for an 11:00 a.m. start.
This year's keynote speaker is Joelle Tomlinson. Currently serving as Community Reporter for Global News Calgary, Tomlinson is a seasoned journalist and a dedicated advocate for representation, diversity, and equity in the media industry. Randy Chevrier, TELUS Wise ambassador, and members of the Calgary Stampeders are amongst other special guests who will be in attendance.
"We're thrilled to build on our longstanding partnership with the Calgary Hitmen by teaming up once again on this annual event to share our free TELUS Wise digital literacy program and help #EndBullying for youth," said Patrick Barron, Vice President of Corporate Citizenship and Community Investment. "With cyberbullying affecting one million youth in Canada every month, the annual Be Brave game is an incredible event that leverages the power of sport to help teach youth how they can help end bullying and inspire all those in attendance to be kind to others on and off the ice."
Teachers, students, and their families are invited to join the Hitmen for the TELUS BE BRAVE #EndBullying game. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink in support of the campaign and in recognition of Pink Shirt Day.
"We are appreciative of the support and partnership that TELUS provides us for this game as we continue to influence the lives of our youth in a positive way," said Hitmen Manager of Business Operations, Amy Bontorin. "We are grateful to be able to use our platform to spread important messaging to help end bullying."
