Hitmen Meet Rockets in Championship Series

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen will meet the Kelowna Rockets in the 2009 Western Hockey League Championship Series.

The best-of-seven is a 2-2-1-1-1 format with Calgary having home ice advantage.

This will be the first ever playoff meeting between the Hitmen and Rockets who split their two regular season meetings this season.

The Hitmen, winners of a WHL record tying 12 games in a row, are coming off back-to-back-to back series sweeps, ousting the Edmonton Oil Kings in the opening round before eliminating the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the second round and the Brandon Wheat Kings in the Husky Eastern Conference Championship.

Calgary won the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy as Regular Season Champions with a record of 59-9-3-1 (122 points) while Kelowna went 47-21-1-3 (98 points).
