Hitmen Fall to Cougars 6-5

Calgary, AB- The Calgary Hitmen opened a very busy stretch of hockey tonight welcoming the Prince George Cougars to Seven Chiefs Sportsplex.

Tomis Marinkovic kicked off the game scoring which would open up the flood gates on both sides in a high scoring match up. Koehn Ziemmer netted the first one for Prince George tying things up heading into the second period. Carson Wetsch notched his fourth goal in as many games off a 2-on-1 feed from Oliver Tulk. Prince George would have an answer once again with a goal from Chase Wheatcroft. Riley Fiddler-Schultz regained the lead for Calgary seconds later but Zac Funk put one home half way through the period to head into the final 20 minutes tied at three.

Calgary got their most substantial lead in third period with goals from Jacob Wright and Oliver Tulk to make it 5-3. Prince George would go on to net three more, seeing goals from Ziemmer for his second of the game, and two from Jaxsen Wiebe to secure a 6-5 victory over Calgary.

Calgary returns to the ice Friday at home to begin a three-game weekend against the Brandon Wheat Kings. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome. Calgary then heads to Medicine Hat on Saturday, Jan. 21 before returning to the 'Dome against Red Deer on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 4:00 p.m. for another Sunday Funday, presented by Brookfield Residential.
