
Hitmen Defenceman Travis Sanheim Named to Canada's World Junior Team

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club would like to congratulate Travis Sanheim on being named to Canada's 23-player roster for the 2016 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.
Sanheim, a native of Elkhorn, Manitoba, is in his third season with the Hitmen after being selected by Calgary in the ninth round, 177th overall, in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft. The Philadelphia Flyers prospect sits fourth among league defencemen with 31 points (eight goals, 23 assists) in 24 games. Sanheim becomes the 18th player in franchise history to play in the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship, joining the following players:

Virtanen, who was loaned to Team Canada by the Vancouver Canucks, played the last three full seasons with the Hitmen (2012-15). He is one of four players returning to last year's gold medal-winning team.
The 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship will be played from December 26 to January 5 in Helsinki, Finland.
