Vancouver Giants News Release

Everett, WA - Tyler Benson scored the winning goal at 13:46 of the third period as the Vancouver Giants won their final game before the holiday break, edging the Everett Silvertips 2-1 at the Xfinity Arena on Saturday night. Chase Lang also scored for Vancouver. The Giants have now picked up at least a point in eight of their last 11 games.

The Silvertips opened the scoring on an early first period power play when Connor Dewar beat Vancouver goalie Ryan Kubic from the left face-off circle. The Giants were heavily out shot in the first period, but Kubic turned aside 16 of 17 Everett shots in the opening stanza.

Lang tied the game on a Vancouver man advantage in the second period, scoring on a one-timer after Benson fed the puck to him in the slot from the right circle.

Benson bagged the eventual winner off the rush in the third period, directing Lang's centring pass from off the right wing past Everett goaltender Carter Hart.

The Giants will return to action on December 27th when they host the Silvertips on Sunday Family Funday at the Pacific Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:00pm. For tickets, go to TicketLeader.ca or call 604.4.GIANTS (604.444.2687).
