
Hitmen defeat Cougars

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen defeated the Prince George Cougars 5-3 Friday evening at the Scotiabank Saddledome, sweeping the two-game season series against the B.C. Division club. Calgary, now 31-11-1-3 on the season, moves to the top of the WHL Eastern Conference standings.
Greg Chase scored the go-ahead goal in the middle frame, while Alex Roach, Victor Rask, Zane Jones and Jesse Zgraggen, in his Scotiabank Saddledome debut, also added tallies for Calgary. Rookie Jake Virtanen chipped in a pair of assists, extending his point scoring streak to three games. Jones and Rask also posted two-point efforts, each adding an assist in the win.
Chris Driedger made 19 saves in the Hitmen net as Calgary outshot Prince George 34-22.
Calgary returns action tomorrow, Saturday, January 19, when they visit the Medicine Hat Tigers, with a 7:30 p.m. puck drop. Radio broadcast begins at 7 p.m. on Sportsnet 960 The FAN (960 AM) with a 30-minute pre-game show.
The next Hitmen home game is Sunday, January 27 against the Brandon Wheat Kings. Game time is 4 p.m. at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
