
Hitmen clinch regular season Eastern Conference Championship with shootout win in Red Deer

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen are WHL Eastern Conference Regular Season Champions for the second year in a row.
The Hitmen mathematically clinched the number one playoff seed in the Eastern Conference with a 2-1 shootout win in Red Deer Saturday night. Kris Foucault (FOO-coe) scored the shootout winner.
Hitmen defenceman Michael Stone forced overtime with 3:50 remaining in regulation time. For Stone it was his 18th goal of the season.
Martin Jones made 40 saves in the Hitmen goal to record the win as Calgary was outshot 41-26.
At 54-7-3-1, Calgary leads the Western Hockey League Standings. They sit 10 points ahead of the Vancouver Giants for first place overall.
The Hitmen now return to the Pengrowth Saddledome for their final two regular season home games.
On Wednesday they'll host Canadian World Junior Gold Medalists Jordan Eberle, Colton Teubert and the Regina Pats. Then on Saturday Calgary Flames first round pick Michael Backland leads the Kelowna Rockets into the âDome.
The puck drops both nights at 7:00 p.m.
