Hitmen Claim Seventh Central Division Title

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen claimed their seventh WHL Central Division title, and first in five seasons, with a 3-2 victory over the Kootenay Ice on Sunday afternoon at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Travis Sanheim scored the game winner, breaking a 2-2 third period tie with 4:17 remaining, setting up a first round playoff series between the Hitmen and Ice.

Kenton Helgesen and Jordy Stallard also scored for Calgary who finishes the regular season on a five-game winning streak and with victories in 22 of their last 27 games.

Levi Cable and Sam Reinhart replied for Kootenay.

The Hitmen and Ice will now open their first round best-of-seven playoff series on Friday, Mar. 27, at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
