Historic First Season of Tulsa Dream League to Wrap up on Saturday
June 4, 2021 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
FC Tulsa News Release
TULSA - The historic first season of the Tulsa Dream League, Tulsa's first fully funded elementary school soccer league, will conclude on Saturday with the Finals for each of the Dream League's three divisions. While all Dream League teams will play on the last day of the season, the Finals will consist of each of the top two regular season teams in the Manchester United Division (2nd and 3rd grade), the Barcelona Division (4th and 5th grade) and the FC Tulsa Division (6th grade).
"This inaugural season has been full of excitement and so much love," said Massiel Vazquez, League Director for the Tulsa Dream League. "We have seen how our kids have arrived at the fields ready to give it their all, surrounded by love from their parents, family members and community. Our Executive Director, Pastor Tim Newton, shared with us recently that when we have sports/activities going on like the Tulsa Dream League, crime rates and calls to the Tulsa Police Department drop significantly. This is how we know we are making a difference. We will continue to make this league bigger and better, and we hope to see them all back this fall."
As a part of the final day of the season celebrations, Supporters Group, 83 United, will present a gift to all of the Dream League athletes for their hard work during the season. FC Tulsa players will also be on hand at the Dream Center in North Tulsa alongside Tulsa Police Department Officer Derrick Alexander, who is assigned to the North Tulsa area to present the champions of each Final with silverware.
All fans are invited to come out to the Tulsa Dream Center on Saturday to cheer on the athletes and congratulate them on their season. FC Tulsa also will be selling club merchandise on site.
The Finals will kick off at 2 p.m. with the Barcelona Division Finals between John Hope Franklin vs. Avengers. The Manchester United Division Finals will be played at 4 p.m. between John Hope Franklin vs. Hawthorne Hawks. The FC Tulsa Division Finals will take place at 5 p.m. between FC Santos and the winner of the 3rd place match immediately preceding it.
