Long Island Ducks News Release

(Central Islip, N.Y., June 6, 2006) - On Saturday, June 10, the Long Island Ducks and HIP Health Plan of New York will host the second annual HIP Grand Slam Challenge at Citibank Park. The nine-inning contest will begin at 7:30 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30.

"This is a great evening for our organizations," says Ducks general manager Michael Hirsch. "These All-Stars will get the chance to play on a professional field in front of their families and friends. Who knows, we may see some future Ducks out there."

The contest marks the second time that All-Star teams from Suffolk and Nassau counties will square off in a nine-inning contest to showcase the best seniors from across Long Island. Newsday selected two teams of 18 players from each county.

In last season's inaugural contest, Suffolk County's squad edged Nassau, 16-15, in front of a packed crowd at Citibank Park. The event was a tremendous success, as baseball fans from across Long Island came out to cheer the best players that both counties had to offer.

Tickets to the event are $5.00 and can be purchased by visiting the Citibank Park box office or by calling 631-940-TIXX now. All ticket proceeds will benefit the QuackerJack Foundation, the charitable arm of the Ducks.

The Long Island Ducks play their home games at Citibank Park, located in Central Islip, N.Y. For further information, please visit www.liducks.com or call the public relations department at (631) 940-3825.
