Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

Wade Hinkle hit his 4th home run of the year, but the Owlz fell 9-6 to the Grand Junction Rockies on Saturday night.

The Owlz dug themselves an early hole once again on Saturday, giving up five runs in the 2nd inning. Pat Lowery allowed a 2-out 2-run double to Juan Ciriaco and a 2-run single by Matt Wessinger.

Orem got three runs back in the bottom of the inning on a Drew Martinez RBI single and a 2-run double by Wendell Soto.

Grand Junction got one run in the next two innings to take a 7-3 lead, but the Owlz came crawling back. Wade Hinkle hit a solo home run in the 5th, Martinez hit a sacrifice fly in the 6th and Kyle Johnson had a RBI single in the 8th.

Unfortunately, the Owlz could not keep Grand Junction quiet in the 9th, giving up two runs in the 9th on a RBI double and a wild pitch.

The Owlz had a chance to tie the game with Michael Snyder at the plate with two on, but he grounded into a fielder's choice to end the game.

The loss ends a 3-game winning streak, but the Owlz will try to start a new winning streak tomorrow afternoon at 4:05 p.m. It will be Dollar Dayz at the ballpark.
