THE HILLCATS: Lynchburg lost 11-10 last night in their longest nine inning game of the season (three hours and 25 minutes) in a one-game series at Winston Salem...The Hillcats have matched their longest losing streak of the season with four straight defeats and the Cats are now four games under .500 for the first time all season after they weren't under .500 the entire first half...Tonight is the first of three games with the Southern Division first half champions at Calvin Falwell Field...

VS. WINSTON-SALEM: The Hillcats are 5-3 versus the Dash this season and took three out of four from Winston-Salem in their lone trip to Lynchburg this season...Last season Winston-Salem (then the Warthogs) won the season series 14-6...Lynchburg has the all-time advantage 148-138, and they are 83-62 in the Hill City...

GUT-WRENCHING: Last night Lynchburg failed to hold onto four different leads in their 11-10 loss...They matched their biggest blown lead of the season, after they lead by five runs in the sixth inning...All-Star closer RHP R.J. Rodriguez blew his first save of the season in 16 chances, allowed his first home run of the campaign and allowed his first earned run since May 18th (13 appearances and 13 and 2/3 innings of action)...The Hillcats were 35-0 when leading after eight innings before last night and they were 34-3 when leading through five innings before they fell a night ago...

CITY STADIUM SLIDE: After starting their home schedule with a record of 23-7 at Calvin Falwell Field, the Hillcats have gone 1-6 since then...Wednesday night was the first time at home or on the road the Hillcats have been swept...The Cats began the season 8-1 in series in the Hill City and have gone 0-2-1 since with back-to-back series losses...

DOUBLE YOUR DISPLEASURE: Lynchburg has allowed their opponent to score double digits three times in the first eight games of the second half after they did not allow double digits once in 69 games in the first half of the season...They allowed a season-high 13 runs to Salem on Tuesday night and the Red Sox matched the most hits against the Hillcats this season with 16...Last night the Dash plated 11 and smacked 17 hits, the most against the Cats this season...

DIPPING D: After tying for the top fielding percentage in the Carolina League in the first half (.977), the Hillcats have committed 12 errors in eight games in the second half that have led to 15 unearned runs...They allowed 29 unearned runs in 69 games in the first half...In the last two games combined the Hillcats have committed seven errors that have led to eight unearned runs and they lost both games by one run...Last night they made three defensive blunders in one inning that led to four unearned runs and turned a 9-5 lead into a 9-9 tie...

HOT HAGUE: 1B Matt Hague, went 3-for-5 a night ago with a double, a home run, two RBI and two runs scored...He has a seven-game hitting streak and has gone a combined 13-for-26 (.500) with seven RBI...He has hit in 12 of his last 13 games and has gone 18-for-43 (.419) over that time, raising his average from .278 to .304...Hague has matched his longest hitting-streak of the year and has had more than one hit in five of those seven contests...His home run last night was his first since June 1st, a span of 54 at-bats without a big fly...

NEWEST CATS: Two different players made their Hillcats debut last night, C Eric Fryer and RHP Ramon Aguero both played last night for Lynchburg against Winston-Salem...Fryer went 1-for-2 with two runs, two walks and got hit by a pitch...Aguero allowed four unearned runs in an inning and 2/3 and took a blown save thanks to some poor defense...Fryer was acquired in a trade from the Yankees and Aguero was promoted from Low-A West Virginia...Fryer was batting .250 with Tampa in the Florida State League (Advanced-A affiliate of the Yankees) after leading the South Atlantic League in batting average last season with West Virginia (then the Low-A affiliate of the Brewers)...Aguero was 1-2 with a 4.71 ERA in 20 appearances (three starts) for the Power this season...

KNOCKING ON THE DOOR: OF Jamie Romak went 2-for-5 last night with two home runs, five RBI and two runs scored and he now has homered three times in the last two games...He has 36 home runs in his career as a Hillcat and is now just three homers shy of tying Josh Bonifay for the most homers in Hillcats history...Romak hit 15 in 2007 for Lynchburg, 18 last season (led the league at the time of his promotion) and now has hit three this season... It was the 10th time in his career he has homered twice in the same game and his sixth time as a Cat...

FINDING THE FEEL: INF Chase d'Arnaud went 3-for-5 last night with two doubles, a triple, two RBI and two runs scored...In his last two games combined he is 6-for-8 with four doubles, a triple, two RBI and three runs scored...This after he started his time with Lynchburg 3-for-24...He also stole his first base as a Cat last night after getting caught in his first two attempts...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: LHP Justin Edwards was selected in the third round by the White Sox in the 2006 draft out of high school in Orlando, Florida...He made his professional debut that year at the Rookie level with Bristol and went 3-7 with a 5.30 ERA in 12 starts...In 2007 he advanced to full season Low-A Kannapolis and posted a 6-9 record with a 5.79 ERA in 27 games (21 starts) for the Intimidators...After missing all of last season after Tommy John surgery, he returned to Kannapolis this year and went 4-3 with a 3.80 ERA in eight starts before earning a promotion to High-A...With Winston-Salem he has made two starts and has gone 1-0 with a 7.00 ERA and makes his first start against Lynchburg tonight...
