THE HILLCATS:
Lynchburg won the rubber match over Winston-Salem on Thursday by a final of 6-5...The Hillcats regained sole possession of first place in the Northern Division and again have the best record in the circuit...After going 4-2 in six straight road games, the Cats start a brief three-game homestand tonight with game one of a three-game set against Wilmington...
VS. WILMINGTON:
The Hillcats lost two out of three games in a three-game series at Wilmington in mid-May...The Blue Rocks took the rubber game with a 10-inning 8-7 victory...Last season the Rocks topped the Cats in the season series 11-9 and were 5-5 at City Stadium...Wilmington has the all-time advantage over Lynchburg 164-117 and they are 78-60 in the Hill City...
GO-AHEAD, CALL IT A COMEBACK...AGAIN:
Yesterdays win was the Hillcats 14th come from behind victory this season out of their 21 wins...The five-run deficit they overcame was the biggest margin they have overcome this season...They entered the eighth inning down 5-0, before they scored one in the eighth, four in the ninth and one in the tenth...It was also the first time this season the Cats won a game they trailed in entering the ninth inning...They were 0-11 prior to yesterday...
FREE BASEBALL:
Lynchburg improved to 2-1 in extra-inning games yesterday with the 6-5 win...They dropped their first extra-inning game at Wilmington, 8-7 in ten innings and won an eight inning affair (scheduled for seven) over Myrtle Beach 6-5 last week at City Stadium...
CHECKING TH NUMBERS:
The Hillcats improved to 9-2 in one run games, 13-7 in games decided by three or less, 4-4 in day games, 2-2 when wearing their alternate green jerseys, 5-4 in series finales and 2-2 in rubber matches...
MOWING DOWN MOLLY:
RHP Dustiin Molleken threw a scoreless inning yesterday and has now worked 13 scoreless innings in a row over his last six outings...That is the longest streak by a Hillcats hurler this season...Over that stretch Molleken has allowed eight hits, struck out 18 and walked just two...

1B Matt Hague hit the game-winning solo home run in the top of the tenth inning last night for Lynchburg...It was the first homer of the season for Hague who had gone 30 games and 110 at-bats without a big fly...
GO ON WITHOUT ME:
UTIL Miles Durham went 0-for-4 on Wednesday night and had his season-long eight-game hitting streak snapped...INF Ray Chang went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI to extend his season-long hitting streak to nine games...Over that stretch, he has hit .400 (14-for-35) with ten RBI and eight runs scored...
TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER:
LHP Daniel Duffy was selected in the 3rd round of the 2007 Amateur Entry Draft by Kansas City out of Cabrillo high school in California...He began his Royals career with the Arizona Royals that fall and went 2-3 with a 1.45 ERA in 11 games (nine starts)...He pitched the next season in 2008 with Low-A Burlington and went 8-4 with a 2.20 ERA in 17 starts for the Bees...That year he struck out 102 batters in 81 and 2/3 innings...This year he advanced to High-A with Wilmington and has posted a 4-1 record with a 3.38 earned run average in six starts...Duffy is ranked as the sixth best prospect in the Royals minor league organization by Baseball America...The lefty makes his first start against Lynchburg tonight...
