Frederick Keys News Release
Keys clean-up hitter Brandon Waring homered twice and SS Pedro Florimon provided the game-winning hit for the second time in as many days as the Keys outlasted Kinston 6-4 in ten innings Friday night.
Waring's two blasts (3,4) helped the Keys lead 4-3 into the ninth inning but the Indians would rally.
Kinston LF Johnny Drennen singled with one out and later scored on an RBI-single from DH Lonnie Chisenhall. Keys reliever Brian Parker (2-0) was not rattled and got out of the jam without any more damage done.
Frederick would get right back at it in the tenth inning with four consecutive two-out singles. C Billy Killian, LF David Cash, SS Pedro Florimon and CF Matt Angle put together the rally to put the Keys back atop.
The Indians loaded the bases in the ninth inning but LHP Brett Bordes earned his first Carolina League save getting the final out.
Kinston left eight men on base in the game's final three innings.
RHP Pedro Beato was solid in his first start in Kinston, allowing three runs in six innings of work. Beato has not allowed more than three earned runs in a start this year.
The series continues at Grainger Stadium Saturday, May 16th at 7:00 p.m. with The UPS Store Pre-Game Show kicking off at 6:40 p.m. on the Keys Baseball Network.
Frederick returns home Monday, May 18th to begin a four-game series with Lynchburg. It will be Kids Eat Free Monday at Harry Grove Stadium.
