Potomac Nationals News Release
The Potomac Nationals are headed to the beach for the first time this season as they get set to begin a three-game series against the defending Southern Division champion Myrtle Beach Pelicans. It's been a difficult season for the Atlanta Braves Advanced-A affiliate who currently reside in the basement of the Southern Division with a league-worst 11-23 record. The Pelicans have gone just 3-10 in the month of May and currently rank last in both team hitting (.235) and team pitching (5.18).
The P-Nats and Pelicans squared off in one previous series when the Nationals opened Pfitzner Stadium for the first time in 2009. After losing the home opener, 7-5, Potomac won the next two games of the series by the scores of 5-4 and 11-4. This three-game set was highlighted by Tim Pahuta's tremendous grand slam in the finale to give the P-Nats their first home series victory of the season. The Pelicans received a pair of home runs from their LF Cody Johnson who currently leads the Carolina League with 12.
Tonight's pitching matchup Potomac LHP Tom Milone (2-2, 3.94) vs. Myrtle Beach LHP Cole Rohrbough (1-0, 2.00)
