September 2, 2022 - Carolina League (CarL)
Lynchburg Hillcats News Release
The Lynchburg Hillcats struggled to get their bats going, losing in extra innings to the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 2-1 in ten innings.
The Hillcats (25-33) were only able to pick up three hits off Kannapolis (29-29) pitching.
Dylan Burns found himself in trouble in the third inning when he loaded up the bases. Isaiah Greene picked up a walk to bring home Marlin Made to give the Hillcats the early lead. Lynchburg was unable to tack on any more runs that inning or throughout the ballgame.
The Hillcats pitching staff was able to keep the game scoreless until the eighth inning when Yeury Gervacio surrendered a solo home run to Logan Glass to tie the ball game.
The game would go to extra innings, where the Hillcats would surrender the go-ahead run on a Logan Glass double to score Samil Polanco. During the play, Franco Aleman would be ejected for talking to the umpire, bringing in Tyler Thornton who would get out of the inning with bases loaded.
In the bottom half of the inning, the Hillcats would be unable to bring the automatic runner from second. The two ballclubs will face off again on Saturday night at 6:30 at Bank of the James Stadium.
