Edmonton Oil Kings News Release
Edmonton, AB - It may have been Salute To Saskatchewan Night on Monday at Rexall Place, but the Edmonton Oil Kings were anything but friendly to the visiting Regina Pats, as they destroyed their eastern opponents 9-3.
The Oil Kings are absolutely on fire right now, as they won their fourth consecutive game with the rout over the Pats, and they're now 8-1-0-1 in their last 10 games. They continue to cement themselves as a playoff-position squad, as they hold down seventh place in the Eastern Conference with a 15-14-0-2 record. The last time the Oil Kings were above .500 was mid-October.
Oil Kings first-line centre Jordan Hickmott had a monstrous night in the lopsided victory, tallying a hat-trick and three assists for a six-point performance. The 20-year-old's point totals skyrocketed, as he's now second in Oil Kings scoring with 16 goals and 15 assists. Not to be outdone were his linemates, Dylan Wruck and Stephane Legault, who scored four and three points, respectively.
Edmonton's leading scorer Michael St. Croix continued his assault on the WHL and his ascent up the leader board, as he also had three points with a trio of helpers. The sniper now has a remarkable 21 points in his last eight games and has risen all the way up to 10th in league scoring with 18 goals and 24 assists. Linemate T.J. Foster extended his goal-scoring streak to eight games with a pair of markers in the blowout.
The Oil Kings will look to continue their winning ways when the Swift Current Broncos come to town on Wednesday at 7 p.m. for another K-97 and 96.3 Capital FM Wiener Wednesday, with delicious hot dogs on sale for just $2 all night. The Broncos are one spot and six points above the Oil Kings in the conference standings, sitting in sixth with a 19-17-0-0 record.
The Chilliwack Bruins visit Rexall after that on Friday at 7 p.m. for the much-anticipated Toyota Teddy Bear Toss game. For one night only, all tickets are just $10, and when the Oil Kings score their first goal that night, fans can throw the new teddy bears and other plush toys they brought to the game onto the ice. The stuffed animals will then be collected and donated to 630 CHED Santas Anonymous.
Tickets to every Oil Kings home game are available at any Ticketmaster outlet, online at oilkings.ca, or by calling 780-414-GOAL (4625).
