Hershey Assigns Four to Stingrays; Add Erickson to Roster

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Cail MacLean announced today that defensemen Josh Godfrey, Dylan Yeo and forwards Jordan Pietrus and Nikita Kashirsky have been assigned to the team by the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League. The Stingrays also announced that goaltender Beau Erickson has been added to the training camp roster.

Godfrey, 22, appeared in 29 games last season for the Stingrays scoring five goals and 11 assists for 16 points. Since joining the Stingrays for the 2008-09 season, the Collingwood, ON native knocked in 41 points (10g, 31a) in 66 games. Prior to turning pro, Godfrey, the 34th overall draft pick by the Washington Capitals in 2007, spent four seasons in the OHL starring for Guelph and Sault St. Marie. While with the Greyhounds, the 6-foot-1, 210-pound defenseman recorded 119 points (47g, 72a) in 158 games.

Yeo, 24, scored 14 goals and 16 assists for 30 points in 49 games for the Stingrays during the 2009-10 campaign. The Prince Albert, SK native also skated in all five playoff contests tallying two points (1g, 1a). In 2008-09, Yeo punched in 10 goals and 33 assists for 43 points with the Victoria Salmon Kings earning him the 2009 ECHL Defenseman of the Year award. Before joining the professional ranks, the 5-foot-11, 210-pound Yeo skated for four seasons with the Calgary Hitmen and Prince George Cougars of the WHL registering 73 points (21g, 52a) in 228 games.

Pietrus, 25, enters his first professional season after spending four years at Brown University. While with the Brown Bears, the Vermilion, AB native buried 18 goals and 23 assists for 41 points. During his senior season, the 5-foot-11, 180-pound defenseman had a career best 18 points (7g, 11a) in 23 games and earned the 2010 Derek Hines Unsung Hero award. Before attending Brown, Pietrus captained the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the USHL to an Eastern Division Championship in 2006 and an Eastern Division, Anderson Cup and Clark Cup Championship in 2005.

Kashirsky, 25, lit the lamp 19 times as a rookie for the Stingrays last season and accumulated 16 assists for 35 points in 39 games. The 6-foot, 180-pound forward also appeared in 25 games with the Springfield Falcons and Manitoba Moose of the AHL achieving six points (3g, 3a). Prior to turning pro, the Moscow, Russia native played for four seasons at Norwich University potting 144 points (73g, 71a) in 110 games. As a senior, Kashirsky led the team in goals (17), assists (17) and points (34) while appearing in all 25 games en route to All-ECAC East First Team honors for the second straight campaign.

The Stingrays drop the puck on their 18th season of hockey in the Low Country on Friday, October 22 against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:35 p.m. at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.
