Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

TULSA, OK - Teoscar Hernandez drove three of four Corpus Christi runs Thursday night as the Hooks downed the Drillers 4-1 before 8,326 fans in the series opener at ONEOK Field.

Following a 45-minute rain delay, Hernandez opened the game with a home run onto the berm in left-center off Ross Stripling.

In the second, Jio Mier started with a double and Conrad Gregor worked a walk. Two outs later, Hernandez ripped a base hit to center for a 3-0 Hooks lead.

Stripling (1-2) ran into more trouble in the third. Jon Kemmer sent a two-bagger down the right-field line to begin the frame. Kemmer, who has hit safely in eight consecutive games, later scored Corpus Christi's fourth run via a two-out single by Mier.

Brian Holmes (3-2) earned the victory, limiting the Drillers (4-3, 34-42) to a Peter Lavin solo blast in the third.

Josh Hader struck out six over two scoreless frames of relief and Jandel Gustave sidestepped a couple walks in the ninth for his Texas League leading 10th save.

The Hooks (4-3, 52-25) were stifled by lefty Eric Stults, who permitted a trio of one-out singles over the final five frames. Stults struck out five.

The series continues Friday night. Adrian Houser (0-1, 4.50), a native of nearby Locust Grove, Oklahoma, gets the call for the Hooks. Tulsa counters with Jharel Cotton (1-0, 1.38). First pitch 7:05.
