Missions Capitalize on Cards Errors in 4-2 Win

July 3, 2015 - Texas League (TL1)
San Antonio Missions News Release

SPRINGFIELD--The Missions continued their winning ways at Hammons Field and Elliot Morris matched a career high by firing seven innings of two-run ball Friday night in front of 4,568.

San Antonio scored all its runs in a sloppy fifth inning that saw three Cardinal infielders commit errors. Alberth Martinez' three-run double was the only hit of the inning.

Morris has allowed four earned runs over 13 innings in his last two starts after compiling a 7.19 ERA over his eight previous outings.

Tayron Guerrero worked a scoreless ninth for his eighth save of the year.

The Missions wasted several chances to add to their run total. Seven leadoff batters reached base but San Antonio was held scoreless in six of those innings, including the seventh when they loaded the bases with no outs.

The Missions have won three straight following a four-game skid. They're 4-4 in the second half.
