Rocket City Trash Pandas News Release

MADISON, ALABAMA - The Los Angeles Angels have assigned right-handed pitcher Aaron Hernandez to the Rocket City Trash Pandas on Tuesday.

In a pair of corresponding moves, right-handed pitcher Alan Rangel was placed on the seven-day injured list and right-handed-pitcher Erik Martinez was taken off the injured list and assigned to Single-A Inland Empire

This puts the Trash Pandas roster at 26 players.

Hernandez began the 2024 season with Triple-A Salt Lake, making two appearances with a win in two innings pitched and two strikeouts. The 27-year-old had spent the entire 2023 season with the Bees, making 11 appearances out of the bullpen.

Most recently, Hernandez was with the ACL Angels on a rehab assignment.

Hernandez was a member of the Trash Pandas during the 2022 season on a team that made a trip to the Southern League playoffs. During that season, Hernandez finished with a 3-4 record and three saves with a 5.48 ERA and 50 strikeouts in 35 appearances with three starts.

Playing collegiately at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Hernandez became the seventh player in program history with 100 strikeouts in a single season, doing so in 2018. Hernandez was drafted by the Angels later that year, being selected in the third round with the 93rd overall pick.
