Sioux Falls Canaries News Release
Sioux Falls, SD - Sioux Falls Canaries Outfielder Chad Hermansen has been named to the 2006 All-Independent Leagues Second Team by Baseball America.
The former Major Leaguer hit .317 with 19 home runs and 72 RBI in 94 games for the Canaries this season. Hermansen broke two Canaries single-season records in 2006, setting new marks for runs scored (77) and doubles (35). He also became the 11th player in team history to have a 100-hit season, ending up with 119 hits on the year.
"Chad was a delight to watch all season long," said Canaries Radio Broadcaster Matt Meola. "His hard work showed on a daily basis why he deserves another opportunity with an affiliated organization."
Hermansen is one of five American Association players to be named to Baseball America's All-Independent Leagues teams. Former Canary Alex Llanos, who played with Sioux City in 2006, was named to the First Team along with Lincoln Saltdogs left-handed pitcher Lindsay Gulin and Pensacola Pelicans closer Tony Pierce. Saltdogs first baseman Pichi Balet joined Hermansen on the Second Team.
