
Herd's Fourth-Quarter Comeback Not Enough Against Blue Coats

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, lost to the Delaware Blue Coats 115-103.
Elijah Hughes led the Herd with 25 points while Milwaukee Bucks two-way player TyTy Washington Jr. followed with a double-double of 19 points and 13 assists.
Delaware's top scorer was Darius Bazley with 24 points and 11 rebounds while Jeff Dowtin Jr. added 22 points.
The Blue Coats got the game started with a dunk, but the Herd was quick to answer and even the game. The teams traded baskets until Delaware got out to a six-point lead at the seven-minute mark. The Blue Coats continued the momentum pushing ahead with seven unanswered points developing a double-digit lead. Drew Timme and TyTy Washington Jr. knocked down four to break up the Delaware run. With less than a minute left, Malachi Smith converted a three-point play but a last-second three by the Blue Coats put them up 33-23.
Delaware scored four straight points to open the second quarter pushing ahead by 14. Wisconsin answered with a 10-2 run powered by sequential three-pointers by TyTy Wahington Jr. Delaware stole back a double-digit lead before the Herd made it a two-point game behind two Elijah Hughes' three-pointers. Wisconsin kept the Blue Coats within seven until the two-minute mark. Alex Antetokounmpo scored six consecutive points to close out the second quarter, but the Blue Coats remained ahead 61-52. Elijah Hughes propelled the Herd with 13 points while shooting 3-3 from beyond the arc in the first half.
Wisconsin dominated at the beginning of the third quarter with seven consecutive points in the first three minutes. Delaware took control of the game pushing ahead by double-digits. Wisconsin cut Delaware's lead to five after back-to-back plays by Marques Bolden. The teams traded baskets until the Blue Coats ran away again with an 11-point advantage. Delaware held on to lead 86-74 at the end of the third quarter.
The Blue Coats converted on the first play of the fourth quarter putting the Herd down by 14. Wisconsin rallied with a 6-0 run to make it an eight-point game. The Herd continued to battle back from the deficit, cutting it to three at the five-minute mark. The Herd hit 10 straight points and a three-pointer by Elijah Hughes pushed them over the top for the first time. The Blue Coats answered to tie the game 98-98. Delaware took control of the game going ahead 107-100 with four minutes remaining. Wenyen Gabriel knocked down a shot from beyond the arc with a minute remaining, but Delaware ultimately won the game 115-103.
The Herd will remain in Delaware to take on the Blue Coats tomorrow, Jan. 27 with tip-off set for 6:30 p.m. CST.
