
Herd Claws Out Skyhawks

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Wisconsin Herd, the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, beat the College Park Skyhawks 126-121. The Herd took an early lead going up 18-4 and held the forefront through the first quarter. The Skyhawks crawled back to take the lead 34-30 at the beginning of the second quarter but the Herd snatched the lead at half 56-53. College Park stayed close but a 12-0 run at the end of the third quarter propelled the Herd ahead. The Skyhawks outscored the Herd 43-36 in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to win the game.
Jordan Bone controlled the Herd with 28 points including seven three-pointers. Lindell Wigginton tallied a double-double of 26 points and 10 assists. Jontay Porter posted a career-high 19 rebounds with 20 points.
The Skyhawks were led by Brandon Williams with 24 points followed by Cat Barber and Tyrese Martin with 20 points.
Jordan Bone opened the game with back-to-back baskets to put the Herd ahead 5-0. The Herd continued to push ahead outscoring the Skyhawks 13-4. College Park worked their way back to come within seven points at the three-minute mark. The two teams traded baskets until Jordan Bone and Rob Edwards hit consecutive threes to increase the Herd's lead to 10. College Park outscored the Herd 7-2 to end the first quarter, but the Herd remained ahead 30-25.
The Skyhawks opened the second quarter going on a 9-0 run to take their first lead of the game 34-30. Jordan Bone hit his third three-point shot of the game to put the Herd within one. The two teams traded buckets, but a Lindell Wigginton three-pointer tied the game 40-40 with six minutes remaining in the second quarter. The Herd stayed close until the Skyhawks powered ahead 52-44. Six consecutive points brought the Herd within two points. The Skyhawks held on to lead 56-53 at the end of the first half. Jordan Bone guided the Herd with 16 points while shooting 57.1% from the three-point line.
Elijah Hughes hit a three-point shot to open the third quarter and tie the game 56-56. The Skyhawks took the lead again, but Jordan Bone hit a three-point shot to tie the game for a third time. The Herd ran away with a 72-67 dominance. The Skyhawks followed with a two-point shot but Alex Antetokounmpo converted a three-point play to set the Herd up by six. The Skyhawks bounced back to lead 78-77 at the two-minute mark. The Herd exploded with a 12-0 run to rise above 90-78 at the end of the third quarter.
The Herd continued to dominate, going 10-8 at the nine-minute mark of the fourth quarter. Jordan Bone and Lindell Wigginton combined for five points putting the Herd up by 18 points. The Skyhawks rebounded their way back outscoring the Herd 18-5 to come within five points at the three-minute mark. The Herd rallied back giving themselves an 11-point head start with a minute left. The Skyhawks rallied back to come within five points. Three sets of made free throws secured the win for the Herd 126-121.
The Herd will host the Skyhawks again on Friday, January 6 with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m. CST.
