
Hens add veteran infielder

The Toledo Mud Hens made a roster move on Wednesday, adding 1B/DH Joe Vitiello to the roster.
The 34-year-old spent last season with Fresno, Edmonton, and Montreal, appearing in a total of 88 games. Vitiello played against the Hens as a member of the Ottawa Lynx during the 2002 season when he hit .329 with 16 home runs and 82 RBI.
A career .301 hitter in the minor leagues, Vitiello also has 164 career home runs including a career best 28 with Triple-A Omaha in 1999. Originally selected by Kansas City in the first round (7th overall) of the 1991 draft, Vitiello has played in 1,246 professional games during his 13-year career.
The Hens have released IF Leo Daigle to make room on their 24-man roster.
The Hens (3-3) will play at Durham on Wednesday night to begin a six-game road trip. The team will be back home next Wednesday, April 21 versus Indianapolis.
