
Knights Win Home Opener

Fort Mill, SC -- The Charlotte Knights defeated the Columbus Clippers 3-0 in front of 4,609 fans in their Home Opener at Knights Stadium Wednesday night.
The Knights were led by starting pitcher Felix Diaz who earned the win to improve to 2-0 on the season. Diaz threw 6.0 innings and allowed only two hits and one walk, while striking out three Clippers. The right-hander has thrown 13.0 innings this season and has allowed only four hits and has not allowed a run, while striking out ten. Vic Darensbourg and Jose Santiago threw the final 3.0 innings, allowing only one hit, while striking out four. Santiago recorded his first save of the season.
The Knights got all the offense they needed in the first inning off of Clippers starter Alex Graman (0-2). Jeremy Reed drove in Bryant Nelson for the first run of the game and Joe Borchard drove in two runs with a single to left centerfield. Jamie Burke recorded the only other hit for the Knights.
Charlotte returns to action tomorrow against the Columbus Clippers at 7:15 P.M.
