Hennen, Meeker and Strecker Hold New Jersey to One Run in Win

WASHINGTON, Pa. - Thanks to solid pitching, a game-ending catch at the wall and a two-run blast by Trevor Casanova, the Wild Things won 3-1 over the Jackals to take the series and set up a chance for the sweep in Thursday's finale.

The game started off slow with barely any action in the first inning. The first run of the game was scored when Alfredo Marte hit a home run off Wild Things pitcher Ryan Hennen.

Trevor Casanova got the Wild Things on the scoreboard during the bottom of the fifth when he hit a home run, his third of the year and second against New Jersey. The ball traveled an estimated 411 feet to right field.

In the sixth, with Ward on second base and Andrew Sohn up to bat, Sohn hit a ground ball on which the ball was overthrown to first base on an error by the Jackals, which allowed Ward to advance to home plate bringing the final score to 3-1.

The Wild Things will play against the Jackals again tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Ben Vicini will start for the Wild Things. You can get tickets for the contest at wildthingstickets.com.
