Texas AirHogs News Release

SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota - The AirHogs used a strong start by Cody Hebner to down the Sioux Falls Canaries 3-2 Saturday evening. The team will go for a series split tomorrow at 4:05.

Hebner turned in arguably his best start of the year, holding the Canaries to just 2 runs and 3 hits over 7 innings while striking out 5. Hebner faced the minimum in 5 of his first 6 before stranding 2 to keep a 3-2 lead intact in the 7th.

The AirHogs tagged his counterpart Stephen Bougher for 2 runs on 2 hits and an error in the top of the 3rd. Cory Morales and Michael Hur each scored to erase an early 1-0 deficit.

The team expanded the lead in the 6th. Burt Reynolds led off the frame with a long double to center. Brian Bistagne brought him in with a 2-out single to right to run the lead to 3-1.

An RBI base hit by JC Linares off Hebner in the 7th cut the lead to 3-2, but Trey Masek and Alan Oaks would allow the Canaries no closer. Masek left BJ Guinn on 2nd to end the 8th, and Oaks, after allowing a 2-out double to Linares in the 9th, bore down to leave him on 3rd to end the contest.

The scoreless final frame helped Oaks notch his 5th save of the season. The win was the 4th for Hebner, and the loss was the 6th for Bougher. The 4 total hits for Sioux Falls were the fewest surrendered by AirHogs pitching this season.

The AirHogs (26-46) will try to split the series with Sioux Falls (26-46) tomorrow afternoon. LHP David Wayne Russo is expected to start for the first time this season.
