Explorers Fall To T-Bones In Extra-Innings

Sioux City, IA- The Sioux City Explorers fall to Kansas City in extra-innings, allowing three runs to cross in the tenth inning to give the T-Bones the 6-3 tilt at Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park.

Sioux City recorded the first run of the contest in the fourth inning. X's left-fielder Tim Colwell knocked in the first run with an RBI single, scoring the runner at second base.

Kansas City tied it in the fifth inning. Jimmy Mojica led-off the inning with a double, moved to third on a sac-bunt, and scored off a sac-fly-RBI by Vladamir Frias to tie the game at 1-1.

Explorers took the late-inning lead in the bottom of the eighth. With the bases-loaded, Derrick Robinson scored from third base on a wild pitch. Sioux City added one more for good measure, scoring on a LeVon Washington RBI single, extending the lead to 3-1.

In the top of the ninth, T-Bones tied the game with one swing of the bat. Kansas City's third baseman Jimmy Mojica smashed a clutch two-run homer to tie the game and force the bottom of the ninth inning.

The X's would not score in the bottom of the ninth, sending the game into extra-innings with the score tied at 3-3.

Kansas City would go on to win the game by plating three runs in the tenth inning, to get the 6-3 victory over Sioux City in extra-innings at Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park.

T-Bones starter Josh Hodges (1-2) finished with a no decision, allowing three runs in 7.1 innings pitched with five strikeouts. Kansas City right-hander Mark Haynes (2-1) received the victory pitching two scoreless innings.

Explorers starter Bryan Escanio delivered a dominating performance on the mound but would finish with a no decision, going seven solid innings with only one run allowed and five strikeouts. X's right-hander Connor Overton (5-1) was charged with the blown save and loss, giving up five runs on only eight batters faced.
