Lake Elsinore, CA, June 7, 2006 - Chase Headley and Mike Ekstrom have earned Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week honors, in the California League, for the week of May 29-June 4. This is the first week both honorees have come from the same team this season.

Headley batted .360 (9-for-25) with four home runs, with two coming in a 9-4 win over Lancaster on Saturday, a game in which he went 3-for-3 with four RBI. The third baseman doubled his home run total for the season, and now leads the team in home runs with eight.

Mike Ekstrom highlighted his week with eight shutout innings on Memorial Day at The Diamond against the High Desert Mavericks. The 22-year-old right hander tacked on another impressive outing to his weekly resume, yielding only one run in 5 1/3 innings at Lancaster. With the two wins this week, Ekstrom improved his record to 6-3, and ranks fifth in the league with a 2.67 ERA.
