Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
VISALIA-Oaks pitching shackled the Quakes offense for the second straight night, tossing another two-hit shutout as Visalia breezed past Rancho Cucamonga 8-0 Wednesday night at Recreation Park. The Oaks improved to 27-32 with the win while the Quakes fell to 30-29.
Visalia opened the scoring on Ryan Leahy's fielding error in the third, as Patrick Breen's two-run homer in the fourth stretched the lead to 3-0. The Oaks tacked on two more runs in the fifth and then broke the game open with three runs off reliever Dan Hawkins in the sixth. The Quakes meanwhile got a single by Leahy in the first and another by Pat Reilly in the seventh.
Brandon Mann (3-6) did most of the damage on the hill, going a season-high eight innings while allowing two hits and three walks and recording three strikeouts. Fernando Rodriguez (6-3) took the loss for the Quakes, surrendering five runs (four earned) in five innings with one walk and six Ks.
The Quakes will look to avoid the sweep in the series finale at 6:35 tomorrow. Lefty Micah Posey (2-5, 4.55 ERA) will start for the Quakes and left-hander James Houser (3-4, 3.77 ERA) will start for Visalia.
