Barratt Brilliant; Oaks Win 3-0
June 7, 2006 - California League (CalL1)
Visalia Rawhide News Release
Jonathan Barratt fired off the first complete game shutout by an Oaks pitcher at Recreation Park since Jeff Francis' no-hitter on July 20th, 2003. Barratt delivered the Oaks (26-32) a 3-0 victory Tuesday over the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (30-28). Barrattt struck out nine, gave up two hits and walked one. He retired 12 batters in a row from the fourth through seventh innings. Baratt's performance was all the more remarkable because the lefty didn't make it out of the second inning in his last start against the Inland Empire 66ers.
Shaun Cumberland provided Barratt more than enough offense with a two run HR to rightfield in the first inning. The Oaks added an insurance run in the sixth on an RBI groundout from Chris Nowak.
The Oaks and Quakes play game two of their three-game set on Weenie Wednesday at 6:35 PM. Hot Dogs will be just $1 all-night long at Recreation Park.
