Oaks dominate Quakes 8-0

The Visalia Oaks (27-32) dominated the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (30-29) 8-0 Wednesday night at Recreation Park.

Visalia got an outstanding performance from their starting pitcher for the second night in a row. Southpaw Brandon Mann went 8 shutout innings allowing just 2 hits and striking out 3.

The Oaks got on the board with a run in the third inning. Fernando Perez led off the inning with an infield single and stole second base. With two outs, Chris Nowak doubled down the third base line bringing in Perez to make it a 1-0 game.

Visalia added to their lead in the fourth inning with a pair of runs. Josh Arhart singled to lead off the inning and Patrick Breen crushed a titanic blast over the scoreboard in right field for a two run homer.

The Oaks put up two more runs in the home half of the fifth inning. With two outs, Nowak ripped a double down the left field line. Joey Reiman singled back up the middle to drive in Nowak. Arhart then doubled to bring in Reiman and give Visalia a 5-0 lead.

Reiman finished the game 2 for 5 with a pair of RBI.

In the sixth inning, the Oaks added 3 insurance runs. Pat Cottrell, Mark Schleicher and Reiman each drove in runs making the score 8-0.

The Oaks and Quakes finish up the three game series on Thirsty Thursday. Sodas and draft beer are just $1 all night long. First pitch is 6:35 PM.
