Spokane, Wash. - Spokane Chiefs Head Coach Adam Maglio recorded his first career WHL win behind a four-point night from Reed Jacobson on Wednesday night in a 5-2 victory over the Tri-City Americans; Spokane's first win of the 2020-21 season. Jacobson had two goals and two assists and now has eight points in eight games.

The Chiefs and Ams leaned on their respective defenses through much of the first period, highlighted by Spokane successfully killing off two Tri-City power plays; however it was Luke Zazula of the Americans that opened the scoring with a wrister from the blueline at 15:05.

An offensive explosion by Spokane in the second period included three straight goals, scored by defenseman Bobby Russell and wingers Jacobson and Adam Beckman, that vaulted the Chiefs ahead. Zazula connected for his second marker on the night at 16:15, but Spokane held onto a 3-2 lead entering the second intermission.

Spokane's dominance continued through the final period as Jacobson added his second prior to Eli Zummack recording his first marker of the season, an empty-netter that gave Spokane the 5-2 lead at 18:52. Jacobson's assist on the final goal gave him a career high four points.

Campbell Arnold stopped 33 shots in 35 opportunities for the Chiefs. Spokane was 2-4 on the power play and 3-4 on the penalty kill.

Maglio joined the Chiefs prior to the 2019-20 season, serving as an Associate Coach to Manny Viveiros.
