Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Nashville Predators' Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced the reassignment today of five players to the Milwaukee Admirals. Leading the list of skaters is last year's American Hockey League Rookie of the Year Darren Haydar. Arriving along with Haydar are forwards Mathieu Darche, Mike Farrell and Greg Classen and defenseman Ray Schultz. All five players saw limited action in the National Hockey League last season.
Haydar electrified the Bradley Center last season by scoring 75 points (29g-46a) in 75 games for Milwaukee. He also made his NHL debut on November 20th against the Chicago Blackhawks. The former University of New Hampshire star led the Admirals in points (75), goals (29), assists (46) +/- (+17), multiple point games (21) and game-winning goals (9). Haydar led all AHL rookies in scoring and was seventh overall in the league. His point and goal totals are both single season AHL team-highs and his 75 points are the most scored by an Admiral since Tony Hrkac scored 88 points in 1996-97.
Classen set professional career highs in games (72), points (48), goals (20), assists (28) and penalty minutes (61) last season with the Admirals. He also played in eight games with the Predators. The former Merrimack College star made his professional debut with the Admirals during the 1999-2000 season. Classen has scored 17 points (7g-10a) in 90 career NHL games with Nashville.
Darche, Farrell and Schultz will be making their Admirals' debut this season. Darche scored 64 points (32g-32a) in 76 games with Syracuse (AHL) last season and played in one game with Columbus (NHL). Farrell notched 24 points (12g-12a) in 68 games with Portland (AHL) in 2003-04. Schultz registered 10 points (2g-8a) and 105 penalty minutes with Bridgeport (AHL) last season. Schultz and Farrell each saw action in four NHL games last season.
Today's reassignments will join the 11 players sent to Milwaukee Monday by the Predators. The Admirals' training camp begins Monday, September 29th at Wilson Park.
