September 23, 2003 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Cleveland Barons News Release

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Barons announced today the signing of left wing Nick Bootland. Wayne Thomas, General Manager of the Cleveland Barons, made the announcement.

Bootland, who has appeared in Cleveland the previous two seasons, was signed to a two-way contract with the Columbus Stars of the UHL.

Bootland, 25, spent the majority of last season playing for head coach Malcom Cameron with the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL. Cameron now serves as the Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations for the Stars. With Cincinnati, Bootland recorded 43 points on 19 goals and 24 assists in 54 games.

In addition to his time with Cincinnati during the 2002-03 season, the 6'2", 215-pound forward spent one game with Cleveland and 16 games with Hershey, both AHL teams. In his career, Bootland has appeared in 228 AHL games scoring 17 goals and 30 assists for 47 points.

"As the season wears on and players miss time due to call-ups and injury, it is important to keep continuity on the ice," stated Thomas. "That happens through our affiliations with Johnstown and Fresno, and beginning a strong relationship with Columbus will go a long way as well."

Bootland is expected to take part in the Barons training camp that will open on Monday, September 29th.

The Barons open up the season at home on October 11th at 7:00pm. Group tickets for the game are now available by calling the Barons ticket staff at 216-420-0000. Season Tickets and several Partial Plan Ticket Packages are available as well. More information can be found by Crashing The Net at www.clevelandbarons.net.
