Coyotes Sign Mike Wilson

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced today that the Coyotes have signed free agent defenseman Mike Wilson to a one-year deal. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Last season, the 6-foot-4, 195-pound Wilson played 45 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, recording 4-5-9 and 89 penalty minutes (PIM). He also played 5 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack (1-2-3 and 5 PIM) and one game with the New York Rangers.

The 28-year-old Wilson was originally drafted by the Vancouver Canucks (1st round, 20th overall) in the 1993 Entry Draft. In eight NHL seasons with Buffalo, Florida, Pittsburgh and the New York Rangers, Wilson has collected 16-41-57 and 264 PIM in 336 games. His best season came during the 1999-2000 campaign when he registered 4-16-20 and 35 PIM in 60 games with Florida.

Wilson will skate with the Coyotes today and will accompany the team to Portland, Oregon where the Coyotes will face the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday, September 24 at 7:00 p.m.
