Boise Hawks News Release
PASCO, Wash. - Trevor Clifton and two relievers combined on a five-hit shutout, as the Boise Hawks won their third-straight game on the road, stopping Tri-City, 4-0, before a sellout crowd at Gesa Stadium.
The shutout by the Hawks was their first since Aug. 3, 2013 at Everett and the squad finished the season 8-2 against the Dust Devils.
After Tri-City starter Helmis Rodriguez struck out seven of the first nine batters of the game, Jeffrey Baez broke up the no-hit bid with his league-leading fifth home run of the season, a towering drive over the left field wall.
The Hawks would add to their lead in the seventh, as Alex Tomasovich lined a two-out, two-run single into left to extend the margin to 3-0.
It was more than enough for Clifton, who limited the Dust Devils to just four hits in six innings of work, striking out a season-high seven batters, for his second-straight win. Sam Wilson worked two perfect innings, with David Garner getting the final three outs for the Hawks.
Boise returns home tomorrow night to open a string of 14 of the next 17 games at Memorial Stadium - meeting the Eugene Emeralds for an Independence Day tilt. The Hawks will send Josh Conway to the mound, opposite the Ems Griffin Russell at 7:35 p.m.
