Tri-City Dust Devils News Release

The Dust Devils fought tooth and nail in front of a standing-room-only sellout crowd of 3,827, but they weren't able to make it happen as they lost 4-0 to the Boise Hawks Thursday night at Gesa Stadium. The Hawks (10-11) hit their sixth home run in the last five games in the victory.

Tri-City (8-13) starter Helmis Rodriguez (2-2) took the loss, but he was fantastic as he struck out nine over 6 2/3 innings, his longest outing of the season. He allowed three runs on five hits and two walks. His nine strikeouts is a season-high for the Dust Devils pitching staff.

Hawks outfielder Jeffrey Baez hit his third home run of the series Thursday night to score the first run of the game in the fourth inning. He and infielder Jesse Hodges each hit three homers in the five game series. Baez went 1-for-3 on the night with a walk and a strikeout.

Starting pitcher Tyler Clifton (2-0) was also spectacular for the Hawks, going six shutout innings. Clifton only allowed four hits and three walks while collecting seven strikeouts in a winning effort.

The Dust Devils are headed on the road to play a three game series with the Everett AquaSox followed by a day off an a three game series in Spokane against the Indians. The next game at Gesa Stadium will be Friday, July 11, against Spokane. It will be $100 Strikeout Night presented by Gesa Credit Union at Gesa Stadium.
