Portland Winterhawks News Release

Portland, Ore. - Fourteen different Portland skaters recorded a point - including seven multi-point performances - as the Winterhawks routed the Tri-City Americans 11-1 on Friday night. The win marks the fourth time Portland has posted double-digit goals in a single game this season.

Portland's record now stands at 45-15-2-1 on the year (93pts, 1st U.S. Division), and the team has won six consecutive games.

Skating in his 250th career game, Jack O'Brien opened the scoring at 3:56. Josh Davies followed shortly after with a power-play marker, before Marek Alscher and Nate Danielson wrapped up a 4-0 lead for the home team at the end of 20 minutes. James Stefan earned his 250th career point with an assist on Alscher's goal.

The Winterhawks added four more in the middle frame, starting with a dart from Diego Buttazzoni on a setup feed from Luca Cagnoni. Ryan Miller tallied Portland's sixth after some hard work along the goal line from Tyson Yaremko and Josh Mori, then some individual brilliance from Danielson on a breakaway brought the lead to seven. Carter Sotheran put a bow on the period with a rip from the right wing for an 8-0 Hawks lead.

Jake Sloan grabbed Tri-City's lone goal of the contest in the third period, but two goals from Stefan and one from Marcus Nguyen pushed Portland to 11 for the third time this year. Jan Špunar stopped all seven shots that came his way through 40 minutes, while Justen Maric turned aside 11 of 12 after entering the game for the third period. Tri-City's Kyle Kelsey put in a herculean shift for his club, stopping 50 of 61 shots for the Americans in their loss.

The Winterhawks' busy weekend rolls on with a chance to clinch the U.S. Division with a win in Wenatchee tomorrow night before battling Seattle at Climate Pledge Arena on Sunday.
