South Bend Silver Hawks News Release
South Bend, IN - It took extra innings, but the South Bend Silver Hawks managed to defeat the Beloit Snappers by the score of 4-3 in 10 innings. South Bend was ahead 2-1 in the 7th when Beloit rallied to take a 3-2 lead. South Bend managed to tie the game in the bottom half. The score was tied in the 10th when Matt Oxendine came up to bat. With the bases loaded Oxendine crushed a single that allowed Chance Wheeless to score the winning run. Oxendine led the offense today. The shortstop went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI's. Eli Rumler and Jo Jo Batten helped the cause with 2 hits apiece. Billy Spottiswood (3-3) took the win in relief. Spottiswood pitched 2 innings of no hit baseball. The Silver Hawks and Snappers will play game 3 of their series on Friday. Game time is slated for 7:30 PM.
