Portland Winterhawks News Release
Portland, Ore. - Portland Winter Hawks Head Coach and General Manager, Mike Johston, announced the addition of two players to the team's roster. New to the team are 17-year old winger Sawyer Mick (6-1, 175 lbs.) from Vernon, BC and 19-year old Jonathan Milhouse from Yorba Linda, CA.
Mick, the younger brother of former Winter Hawks player and assistant coach Troy Mick, was the leading goal scorer for the Chase Chiefs of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) prior to joining the Hawks. In 18 games this season he tallied 12 goals and 9 assists for 21 points with four of those goals coming on the power play. Mick arrived in Portland this morning and is expected to practice with the team today.
Milhouse had been playing with the Victoria Grizzlies of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) where he recorded 8 goals and 14 assists for 22 points over a span of 24 games. He is expected to arrive in Portland later today.
Both players could see their first game action for the Winter Hawks this weekend.
Also today, the Winter Hawks released 18-year old forward, Ryan Andersen. Andersen was injured in a pre-season game in Tri-Cities and appeared in only 6 games this season.
