Spokane Chiefs News Release

Levko Koper scored twice and Dustin Tokarski stopped 35 shots, including 17 in the second period, as the Spokane Chiefs defeated the Lethbridge Hurricanes 5-2 on Wednesday night in the Spokane Arena. The game was the first meeting between the two since last spring's WHL Championship Final won by Spokane in four games.

The Chiefs went 3-6 on the power play with their first coming on a blind backhand by Mitch Wahl from the bottom of the right circle that hit the Hurricane's Juha Metsola in the skate and banked into the net for a 1-0 Spokane lead at 9:57 of the first period.

Koper snapped home a wrister on the man advantage from the right circle at 14:40 of the second period from Trevor Glass and Stefan Ulmer, who had two assists on the night, for a 2-0 Spokane advantage. Lethbridge cut into that at 15:48 with a power play goal of their own to make it 2-1.

Koper's team leading 14th goal of the year was unassisted at 4:06 of the third.

Trevor Glass scored his second of the season and Spokane's third power play goal of the night at 15:27. Lethbridge's second goal came at 17:33.

Seth Compton found an empty net at 19:22 for the final score.

Ulmer now has five assists in his last two games. Drayson Bowman finished the night with two assists and Wahl had a goal and assist.

Spokane was 5-6 on the penalty kill and was outshot by Lethbridge 37-29.

The Chiefs will travel to the East Division for six games in nine nights beginning on Friday night at 5:30 at Prince Albert. Mike Boyle will go on the air at 5:00 with Comcast Hockey Tonight on 1510 KGA.
