Boise Hawks News Release
PASCO, Wash. - A five-run second inning gave Boise an early lead and Trevor Graham and two relievers made it stand up, as the Hawks opened a five-game series with a 6-2 victory over the Tri-City Dust Devils at Gesa Stadium.
Alex Tomasovich opened the scoring with a two-run single in the decisive frame, with Jesse Hodges following with a sacrifice fly. Jeffrey Baez capped the inning with a line-drive homer to left, giving Boise the big lead.
It was enough for Graham, who allowed just three hits in six innings of work to pick up his second win of the year against the Dust Devils. The right-hander allowed two unearned runs and fanned four in his longest outing as a professional.
Danny Canela went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles in the win - the first Boise Hawk in 2014 to record four hits in a game, with Justin Marra and Tomasovich each logging two hits.
Game 2 of the series is set for tomorrow at 8:15 p.m., with Ben Wells meeting Blake Shouse.
NOTES: Sam Wilson picked up his first professional save, retiring all six men he faced - ending a string of five blown saves by the Hawks bullpen...Boise is now 5-1 this season against Tri-City, after going 2-8 against the Dust Devils in 2013...it was the first multi-hit game for Tomasovich in his pro career, with the two RBI his first with the Hawks...after opening the season with seven-straight road losses, the Hawks have won two straight away from Memorial Stadium...third-round pick Mark Zagunis made his Boise debut, going 1-for-5.
