(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, B.C.) - Canadians LHP Dan Lietz tossed five innings of one-run baseball before handing Sunday's game off to RHP Justin Shafer who took it the rest of the way as Vancouver topped Salem-Keizer 5-3 to open up a crucial five-game series out at Scotiabank Field.

Vancouver took a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the 3rd inning where CF Roemon Fields led off with a hard hit single to left field off of Volcanoes starter RHP Jose Reyes which was followed by a two-run home run from 1B Ryan McBroom, his third of the summer to help Vancouver to a 4-1 lead.

Salem-Keizer would bring it to within a pair of runs in the top of the 8th inning when CF Tyler Hollick would lead off with a double off of Shafer and eventually come around to score on a ground out from 3B Will Callaway, but the tandem of Leitz and Shafer never let the Volcanoes build any sort of offensive threat helping the C's move to with 3 1/2 games of North Division leading Spokane who fell in Eugene on Sunday.

With the victory, Vancouver improves to 10-7 (.588) on the season while the Volcanoes drop to 8-9 (.471) through 17 Northwest League games.
